This information is prepared and updated by BROCANTE SRL, with registered office in Bologna (BO), Via Goito 7, tax code and VAT number 04153700374, telephone number 0512961271, dedicated email address: privacy@brocantesrl.com, the data controller of the related personal data.
You can also contact the same contact details to exercise the rights provided by the GDPR (Articles 15 to 21 and Article 34 of the GDPR: for example, access, deletion, updating, rectification, integration, etc.).

Cookies

Cookies are generally text strings that websites (so-called publishers, or “first parties”) visited by the user, or other websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), place and store—directly, in the case of publishers, and indirectly, i.e., through the latter, in the case of “third parties”—on a user’s terminal device.

The terminals referred to are, for example, a computer, a tablet, a smartphone, or any other device capable of storing information. Already today, and even more so in the future, these include so-called “cookies”. IoT (Internet of Things) devices, which are designed to connect to the internet and to each other to provide various services, not necessarily limited to mere communication.

Internet navigation and device software, such as browsers, can store cookies and then retransmit them to the websites that generated them during the same user’s subsequent visit, thus maintaining a record of their previous interactions with one or more websites.

The information encoded in cookies may include personal data, such as an IP address, username, unique identifier, or email address, but they may also contain non-personal data, such as language settings or information about the type of device a user is using to navigate the site.

Cookies can therefore perform a variety of important functions, including session tracking, storing information about specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, facilitating the use of online content, and so on. For example, they can be used to track items in an online shopping cart or information used to fill out a form.

Cookies and, to a large extent, other tracking tools can have different temporal characteristics and therefore be considered based on their duration (session or permanent), or from a subjective perspective (depending on whether the publisher acts independently or on behalf of a “third party”).

The classification that reflects the rationale of the law, and therefore also the need for individual protection, is ultimately based on macro-categories:

technical cookies, used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the contractor or user to provide such service” (see art. 122, paragraph 1 of the Code);

profiling cookies, used to trace specific actions or recurring behavioral patterns in the use of the offered features back to specific, identified or identifiable individuals. This allows the data controller to group different profiles into homogeneous clusters of varying sizes. This allows the data controller to, among other things, tailor the provision of the service in an increasingly personalized manner, beyond what is strictly necessary for the provision of the service, as well as send targeted advertising messages, i.e., in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the internet.

tracking or “analytics” cookies, i.e. cookies for statistical purposes

Analytics cookies are used to collect statistical information, in aggregate or non-aggregate form, on the number of users accessing the Site and how they interact with it.

Statistics cookies help website owners understand how visitors interact with sites by collecting and transmitting information anonymously.

User consent is required for third-party analytics cookies (e.g., Google) that allow the user’s IP address to be identified.

Cookies can also be classified as:

  • Session cookies, which are deleted immediately when the browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Safari, Google Chrome, etc.) is closed;
  • Persistent cookies, which—unlike session cookies—remain on the device and continue to operate even after the browser is closed and until a specified period of time has elapsed;
  • First-party cookies, which are cookies generated and managed directly by the operator of the website the user is browsing;
  • Third-party cookies, which are generated and managed by parties other than the operator of the website the user is browsing (usually pursuant to a contract between the website owner and the third party).

User Consent

When connecting to any page of the site for the first time, the user will see a banner with a brief information about the use of cookies.

The data controller guarantees that, by default, only the data necessary to achieve specific purposes is processed, thus limiting processing to the minimum necessary to allow users to navigate the site. Consequently, upon the user’s first access, no cookies or other tracking tools may be used.

The banner will be sized appropriately for the different types of devices used. While this does not prevent the default settings from being retained, it will allow those who wish to express their consent.

The banner indicates:

  • that the site uses necessary cookies and, where applicable, cookies for the installation of which consent is required, including third-party cookies, which allow advertising messages to be sent in line with the user’s preferences;
  • a link to the extended information notice and to a separate area where users can analytically select only the features, cookies, and third parties to which they wish to give their consent;
  • a button to express their consent by accepting all cookies or other tracking tools;
  • that if the user chooses to close the banner, denying their consent, the default settings will be maintained, which do not allow the use of cookies or other tracking tools other than technical ones.

Users who do not wish to consent to the installation of cookies that are not technical/necessary should simply close the banner by selecting the appropriate command normally used for this purpose.

Users always have the option to revoke and/or modify their consent, in whole or in part, and the data controller will not be able to ask them to re-express their preferences for at least 6 months from the time they expressed their preferences following their indication by the user.

If you encounter any technical issues related to providing consent, please contact us through the appropriate channels provided on this site so that we can provide assistance.
